Being one of the most popular summer travel destinations, hotel reservations and tourist traffic around Chengdu remained consistently high, and the Universiade added even more fervor to the summer travel season. From July 1st to August 8th, CR-Chengdu maintained high passenger traffic, with an average daily passenger count of 1.309 million and a total of 51.05 million passengers transported, setting a new record for that period. The railway department implemented the “One Day, One Schedule” strategy, adding extra trains, extending train carriages, coupling multiple train units, and dynamically optimizing train schedules to meet the travel needs of passengers during the Universiade.
At Chengdu Railway Station, additional staff were stationed at entrances, ticket halls, and other areas to ensure safe and orderly passenger movement. On August 5th, Chengdudong Railway Station transported 268,000 passengers, a 297% year-on-year increase, achieving the highest daily passenger flow at the station during the summer. In waiting rooms, entrances, and lost and found areas of Chengdudong Railway Station, Chengdunan Railway Station, and Chengduxi Railway Station, numerous volunteers dressed in orange and provided comprehensive assistance to travelers. These “Little Oranges,” hundreds of young volunteers who were carefully selected and trained, offered on-site services to passengers in need.
